Glasgow Community Planning Partnership brings key public, private, community and voluntary representatives together with the aim of delivering better, more 'joined-up' public services in the city. An important part of the Partnerships work is to ensure that the targeted regeneration of Glasgow continues to improve the quality of life for all of our citizens and visitors.
The GCPP membership is drawn from the leaders and/or chief executives from Glasgow City Council, Communities Scotland, Glasgow Alliance, Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, Glasgow Council for the Voluntary Sector, Glasgow Housing Association, Greater Glasgow NHS, Scottish Enterprise Glasgow, Scottish Executive, Strathclyde Fire Brigade, Jobcentre Plus, Glasgow Colleges Group & Strathclyde Police.
The initiative is a long term one, which is both very high profile and very important for the people of Glasgow. GCPP required a high quality, well designed, interactive and robust website to play a vital role in the development and delivery of this strategy.
The two main aims of GCPP are to:
1. Make sure people and communities are genuinely engaged in the decisions made on public services which affect them, and;
2. Ensure commitment from organizations to work together, not apart, in providing better public services.
The fundamental purpose of the website was to allow the stakeholders to find out about the Community Planning process in Glasgow and where appropriate contribute to it. The solution provided gives GCPP total control over all aspects of the website and the Content Management System (CMS) was built to allow for future growth and/or any change in requirements or remit of the organisation.
With no publicity regarding the launch of the site and the initiative, the site received over 100,000 hits in the first month alone. Since then its usage has grown and it has become an invaluable resource to the partnership in disseminating information on Community Planning in Glasgow - including its processes to partners, stakeholders, communities, individuals, the media and all other interested parties. The ability for the above groups and individuals to transmit messages, opinions, requests for information, online survey responses, etc. to GCPP has been of great benefit to both parties.
The flexibility and future growth allowed to GCPP by the CMS has been put to good use already and demonstrated in the new section which has been added regarding the Common Housing Register which is managed and updated by another organisation. Through the CMS GCPP can allow the CHR team secure access to update their own section.
As the Community Planning process continues this flexibility will further be demonstrated when GCPP start the task of integrating all of Glasgow’s Social Inclusion Partnerships into its framework.
Quote
"When choosing Alienation Design, we were seeking a supplier
who had the resources and appropriate mix of design,
marketing and technical skills - but over and above that
Alienation showed an overwhelming enthusiasm and desire to
deliver exactly what we required. The end results validates
our decision and we would gladly recommend them to any other
organisation requiring a website."
