ACCESSIBILITY

Accessibility is not an after thought. All sites designed by Alienation conform to all regulatory specifications.

Care is taken in the construction of sites to ensure that it is accessible to those with impairments and adheres to the UK Disability Discrimination Act. In practice there must be a compromise between design, usability and accessibility.  However Alienation Design will guarantee to meet the requirements of level AAA (the highest standard) with those elements not met agreed in advance.

In addition, we will:
  • Meet Bobby guidelines
  • Enable Keyboard controls for all functionality i.e. access keys for section headings
  • Ensure link clarity
  • Provide an option to view a text only version
  • Provide a non-visible page map (in HTML) that lets users (especially those with screen readers) skip to the main content
  • Allow users to change font sizes
  • Provide an automatic site map
As part of the final development process, we test our sites through a number of automated systems (such as Bobby, W3C Validator, W3C Link Checker) to ensure that the requirements are met.
